Getting To Know:
Solid Wood vs Engineered Wood
The first thing you’ll need to know about flooring is that it can be made from many different materials. With Impressions Flooring we have two great options: solid hardwoods and engineered hardwoods.
SOLID HARDWOOD is what most people think of when they imagine a hardwood floor. The flooring is simply a piece of wood, cut into a plank, and finished as a floor. Solids can generally be sanded and refinished multiple times during the course of its lifetime, but the sandable surface is only the material above the tongue and groove.

ENGINEERED HARDWOOD floors are a modern variation of the traditional hardwood floor. Engineered hardwood flooring is made of several overlapping layers of wood, with the top layer being the exact same wood that a traditional solid hardwood plank would be made of. Engineered hardwood is dimensionally more stable and can accommodate wider widths.
